Minor League Baseball: My Favorite Pastime
On a hot summer day, I love to engage in America’s favorite pastime, baseball. More importantly, I love to do this in the comfort of my home indoors while watching my favorite baseball team on satellite tv with premium movie channels. My favorite baseball team is the Memphis Redbirds. The team is a Triple-A minor league baseball team affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. They have won the minor league titles, conference titles, and division titles in both 2000 and 2009. My favorite pitcher this season is Fernando Salas. He was selected Pitcher of the Week for July 5-11 2010 by the Pacific Coast League. The official team mascot is Rockey the Rockin’ Redbird. He is always entertaining the fans and knows how to have a good time. In the community, the organization runs a non-profit program to encourage kids to participate in sports across the city. The team’s stadium AutoZone Park in located in downtown Memphis and can fit a capacity of 14,320 people. The best upcoming group event is the Elvis Picnic, which celebrates all things Elvis with a post-game fireworks show.
